THIS IS A 19TH *C. EXQUISITE CLOISONNE VASE . CLOISONNE VASE ENAMELLED ON COPPER DECORATED WITH A WONDERFUL BLUE DRAGON DOUBLE 14.50 INCHES POSSIBLY CHINESE 19TH CENTURY. HISTORY OF CLOISONNE VASE CLOISON IS A FINE ART MASTERED IN CHINA IN THE 14TH CENTURY. BECAUSE MANY OF THESE CHINESE WORKS OF ART WERE PRODUCED IN SPECIAL BLUE ENAMEL, THEY BECAME KNOWN IN THE CHINESE LANGUAGE AS 'CHING-T'AI-LAN', OR 'CHING-T'AI-BLUE'. CHINESE CLOISONNE BECAME A STANDARD BY WHICH CLOISONNE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES WAS MEASURED. THIS SMALL PIECE OF DECORATIVE ARTS, BELONGS TO AN ENAMELLING TECHNIQUE, WHICH CONSISTS OF SOLDERING TO A METAL SURFACE DELICATE METAL STRIPS BENT TO THE OUTLINE OF A DESIGN AND FILLING THE RESULTING CELLULAR SPACES, CALLED CLOISONNE (FRENCH: "PARTITIONS", OR "COMPARTMENTS"), WITH VITREOUS ENAMEL PASTE.
