This is the ORIGINAL breath-taking poster for the amazing 1975 documentary which garnered the coveted Academy Award for Best Documentary in 1975. A revelation in the power of sports documentary, the film follows world champion skier Yuichiro Miura and his inteprid team of adventurers as they overcome frostbite, icefalls, illness, and even death to ascend and then descend Mount Everest. Beautifully and bravely shot, the documentary tells a story that is riveting every step of the way, with a climax that is surely one of the tensest in cinematic history. Viewers watch as Japanese skier Miura skis with his parachute down Mount Everest (from the 26,000-foot level) which is wonderfully depicted on the movie poster. Words from Miura's personal diary are read over the various film sequences. This award-winning documentary broke the ice for many would-be skiers in the 1970s and still entertains extreme snow sports buffs. This would make a great gift for skiers, adventurers and mountain lovers.
